“The LORD thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; he will save, he will rejoice over thee with joy; he will rest in his love, he will joy over thee with singing.” Zephaniah 3:17
Have you ever thought about the fact that God is musical? He sings! Now, what that’s like I have no idea, but I’m sure it’s amazing.
The immediate context of this passage is that God will rejoice over His people, specifically here Israel, a redeemed nation. Here’s the point for us: God rejoices over those He has saved…with singing!
Think about how God gave us humans, people created in His image, the ability to sing, to make music to express our joy, even our sorrow. We are musical creatures because God, the Creator, is musical. Whether a person thinks he can sing or not, he still respond to music. It touches us in our souls.
When we sing about His redemption, we are reflecting His glory.
